Big Island abalone farm is the largest abalone aquaculture farm in the US. We raise "ezo", japanese premium abalone. Our farm sustainably raise premium shellfish. You can learn the background story for abalone, how abalone are reproduced. And also you can touch to live abalone or other sea creatures. Additionally you can taste abalone during the tour.

Enjoy a tour of this modern aquaculture farm and a tasting of fresh seafood dishes that makes use of the seafood grown on the farm as well as fresh local ingredients. Explore the wild and rugged Atlantic coastline along the shores Galway bay during a unique guided tour focused on seaweed and aquaculture. Set out on a coastal shore walk and foraging tour to learn about and taste edible sea weeds and sea herbs. Tour the abalone farm with your knowledgable guide, learning about sustainable aquaculture farming and see the different sea creatures grown in tanks. Visitors also get an opportunity to tray the sea urchin roe when in season and to shuck their own abalone. After this taste several dishes with seafood grown on the farm and include freshly prepared abalone and seaweed dishes to enjoy with a view of Cashla Bay. Visitors are welcome to bring their own bottle of wine to accompany the food, should they want.

For those wanting to get even closer to these gigantic creatures, three times the weight of an African elephant, can take an exciting boat trip from the harbour. Wine-tasting in the Hemel en Aarde Valley, together with food and wine pairing is optional at no extra charge. Hermanus is renowned for it's pinot noir wines but there are a large variety of wines to choose from. Non-drinkers can opt for a shopping opportunity or a tour of an abalone farm.
