The best place to get more information about Albania’s communism régime years is the National History Museum which has a large hall dedicated to the period. In this hall you’ll be briefed about communism dictatorship in Albania, where you’ll be introduced starting from the 2nd WW’s communism birth, full installation, prisons, political judgments, death penalties, bunkers, etc. until the first democratic protests, and finally the installation of democracy in 90’s. Lazarat is the first neighbor of the ancient city of Gjirokastra and, on the other hand, bordered by the village belt of the Dropull area. The village lies on the slopes of Mali i Gjerë and at the southern end of the province of Labëria, on the right side of the road Gjirokastër – Kakavija, Lazarat has an ancient history, starting from the Illyrian period. According to a legend, there were two brothers; Clay and Color. Argjiri, with his sons, built the castle of Gjirokastra, while Kollori built a smaller castle in the territory of today's Lazarat, where its ruins are still located. In the century. XVI the village resisted the pressure for Islamization and, consequently, a part of the population had moved to Greece, where even today there is a village called Lazarat, whose inhabitants until recently spoke the Albanian language. Albania is black in  birds during specially winter and spring. You  will love to see how much in the wild you can jump just one hour fifteen minutes form a big city like Tirana. This is the land of the Eagle, let's not forget, although eagles won't be much at sight where we're going this time. It would be good we start early morning and be at the lagoons when the sun's not too high yet. That's the best to be done for birding. We'll be at different locations in  the lagoon and we'll see what we can get. The local rangers will provide us with a scope and eventually a binocular. On our side we can bring a big military one that was once used to watch out for the enemy (meant : you) but best is to have some good gear of yours.

A full day trip to Albania from Corfu. We will visit the archaeological of Butrint- designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1997. Over the centuries, the ancient town had disappeared under layers of silt and vegetation – but archaeologists have uncovered one of the best remains of a working town in the Mediterranean. Later we will visit the town of Saranda, opposite of Corfu . About 21:00 we will return in Corfu.
