The Amarone Chateau guided tour and tasting in Valpolicella


An immersive wine and art experience in the unique Amarone Venetian Villa and Chateau built between the 1500 and 1700’s at the center of Valpolicella’s history. You will taste the award-winning wines of brothers Giovanni and Guglielmo Bertani, whose family is among the founders of the wine region. Your guide will take you through the splendid neoclassical architecture, frescoed rooms, romantic gardens and the ancient vineyards of the Clos. The visit will continue on to the natural grape drying rooms, the original vinification area of the Amarone Classico Riserva, and down to the monumental ageing cellars with barrels that are over two hundred years old. Each tour will include a seated wine tasting.

We are a Winery boutique in the heart of Valpolicella and we organize activities to share our passion for Valpolicella and Amarone wines with our guests (we offer it directly, without intermediaries or tour operator). We’ll start with a walk in the vineyard, telling you the family history about the winery and the estates. You’ll learn how to dry Amarone grapes in the traditional drying room, a process called Appassimento. You'll visit our rural house and the cellar from the 17th century used for winemaking and refinement. At the conclusion, the tasting of a selection of our fine wines Valpolicella, RIPASSO and the great AMARONE, learning how to evaluate them by sight, smell and taste. You’ll also enjoy our organic EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, local cheeses called Monte Veronese and Soppressa Valpolicella (a kind of salami). We’ll be waiting for you on our amazing terrace with a stunning view of the Valpolicella!

The experience begins in the museum, where a “virtual farmer” shares the evolution of vineyard and cellar practices. You'll discover the roots of Montresor Winery and its bond with Verona, then continue to the Barrique Room to explore how each wine gains structure, complexity, and character as it matures. One of the most captivating parts of the visit is the sensory room, where you’ll be invited to test your nose in an interactive aroma game, identifying typical wine notes like black cherry, cocoa, licorice, and floral essences. After visiting the museum and the cellar, you’ll be guided through a tasting experience. You can choose the classic tasting, featuring 5 Valpolicella wines. For a more exclusive journey, opt for the vertical tasting of Amarone, which includes five different expressions of Amarone DOCG. You’ll explore how the wine’s body, intensity, and complexity evolve with time, discovering each nuance sip after sip, perfectly paired with local cured meats and cheese.

Our vineyards, averaging 30 to 50 years old, are cultivated using the traditional Pergola Veronese and Guyot (Filare Speronato) methods. Every step of our winemaking process is done with care and dedication, ensuring that all vineyard operations are carried out manually, from pruning to natural fertilization, with patience and deep respect for nature. The experience includes a guided tour of the vineyards and cellar, where you will discover the winemaking process from vine to bottle. To complete the journey, enjoy a tasting of 3 or 5 carefully selected wines, each reflecting the unique character and tradition of Valpolicella.

Amarone 2005 Wine Experience


The Amarone 2005 tasting is an interesting experience because it allows you to taste an old vintage of Amarone to compare with the current sales vintage. In addition to the amarone you will wine Sin Cero a wine without added sulphites, our valpolicella classico (Iperico), our valpolicella classico superiore (iltabarro), our valpolicella classico superiore ripasso and the Morar Amarone DOC 2010 Bio. The whole cellar is certified organic and in the vineyard is managed biodynamically. It will be explained what it means and why it is important to have a respectful attitude of the vineyards and the environment.
