You will adventure through a path that has a perfect combination of cobblestoned trails, nature, amazing landscapes, warm and friendly people all along the way. And though the day will be a bit hot, we guarantee you it will all be worth it as there will not be a minute of boredom during this walk. Join us and live it on your own! The Camino Real from Barichara to Guane is a path of 5,5 km and walking it can take from 2 to 3 hours. The hike has a low-medium level of difficulty and most of the route is on a wide cobblestone path so no one can miss this experience. This path was declared a national monument in 1977 and restored in 1988. It is a faithful reflection of the work of the Guane Indians who inhabited the area, since it was built with stone, so representative of this region.

The Ancestral Walk to Cabrera is unique. Tourists will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the region while hiking the royal road and upon reaching cabrera they can taste some of the typical dishes of the region. Also, during the walk tourists will appreciate the different fossils that are embedded throughout the royal road since this area was sea more than 1.5 billion years ago.

Barichara, known as the most beautiful town in Colombia, is famous for its colonial architecture, the quiet cobbled streets, adobe houses and artisan workshops and its craft shops among other things. You will see amazing churches, chapels, graveyards, sculptures and parks. Also, you will be entering the stores where the handcrafted goods are made and sold. These handcrafted goods include baskets, paper, clothing, bags, shoes, tiny figures, dream catchers, etc. which will become great souvenirs to take back home. You will even have the opportunity to make handmade paper yourself from different plants, making this activity an experience you won't want to miss. If you wish to do a physical activity, you will have the opportunity to walk down the Camino Real (or parts of it). It is a trail that was build 150 years ago by the famous German immigrant Geo von Lengerke and has a lot of history. The complete hiking trail is about 5 km (3.1 miles) long and takes you about 2 hours.

You will visit the Mirador (look-out), with a wonderful view of the Suarez River and Suarez Canyon far below. In addition to this, you’ll visit the Archaeological and Paleontological Museum, created by Father Isaias Diaz Ardila in 1970. Here you’ll uncover a collection of more than 10,000 fossils millions of years old, a 700-year-old mummy that was discovered in one of the many Chicamocha Canyon caves, along with ceramics, necklaces, and other objects made by the Guane Indians.
