During the trip, you’ll have the chance to swim, kayak, paddleboard, or simply unwind on the catamaran or beach. We’ll sail 50 minutes to Venas Azules, a turquoise mangrove lagoon, which we’ll explore by dinghy for 1.5 hours—swimming or relaxing in calm shallow waters. Next, it’s a 30-minute sail to Playa Drake, where you’ll have 2.5 hours to snorkel vibrant coral reefs, paddleboard, kayak, swim, or simply kick back on the beach or boat. During this tour, you will get to experience some of Limon's main activities in one day. You will visit a local rainforest from a unique point of view: the Tortuguero Canals! These are part of the Tortuguero river and withholds a great diversity of wildlife that can be spotted from our boat tour (Monkeys, aquatic birds, iguanas, basilisks, and maybe sloths…. The set of the Pirates of the Caribbean (Walliabou)- This site is the actual set for the Pirate town, Port Royal, of the infamous movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Watching or hearing about the movie is one thing, experiencing it is another! There is an abundance of props and costumes remaining onsite so one can dress up and look like a real life pirate. There are lots of photos and shooting schedule from the movie that was done in 2002 (part#1) and 2005 (part #2 & #3). If you haven’t already seen the movie, that is definitely going to change after this visit. Facilities include parking, restaurant, bar and washroom. In the thick humidity of the Dominican Republic, the cool water of the lagoon is more than refreshing. Plus, it’s fun to watch others in your group jump into the water from the platforms while you swim. (Then stop in playa grande to have lunch and enjoy the beach. The remaining hours of the itinerary are two hours of round trip transportation)
