What makes this class special; – Our experienced shodo teacher will teach you step by step, so don't worry if you've never tried it before! After retiring from banking, I discovered the arts of calligraphy and seal carving, which gradually transformed my life. My work has been recognized with prestigious awards at the Seoul Women's Craft Exhibition and the KT Corporate Competition. For the past 18 years, I've been teaching calligraphy at a women's professional education institute supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Since January 2018, I've had the privilege of introducing Hangul and Korean traditional culture to over 3,000 international visitors at my studio in Insadong. I also conduct traditional culture workshops for international corporations. I published "The Strength of Calligraphy" in 2018 and "Hello World!" in 2024. This book is a collection of memories and experiences from seven years of becoming with wonderful guests from a stranger to a closer. ***Please be advised that only those with reservations can attend the workshop.***

Enjoy Japanese cultural lesson in 300-year old temple in Miyajima. We are located just about 5min walk from the Miyajima ferry port, yet a little off from busy tourist spot. You can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the temple. We start the lesson with dressing you up with kimono. Tea ceremony is conducted by our tea master in authentic tea room. We will guide you through the ceremony so that you will know what is going on. Taste sweet and matcha tea with proper manner. When the tea ceremony is done, now it is your part to make your own tea.Learn the name of the utensils and how to wisk Matcha tea. Calligraphy has imported to Japan during 6C from China. Learn to draw the line with brush. Check the sample carefully to copy the Chinese character. Write your letter and name on the rice scoop. Rice scoop(shamoji) is lucky item in Miyajima. We will take the pictures while you do the lessons and you can get them by answering our questionnaire.

Enjoy the calligraphy experience of traditional Japanese culture. With 25 years of experience as a calligraphy instructor, I will provide you with easy-to-understand and detailed instruction. We will talk about Japanese letters, explain how to use calligraphy tools, and teach you the basics of how to use a brush. Then, students choose one of the 12 kanji that are popular overseas, practice it, and write it on a Japanese board. Sign your name, place it in a special art frame, and your original work of art is complete. You can take it home, so please display it at home. At the end, enjoy green tea and Japanese sweets, and take a commemorative photo. It will be a wonderful memory for you. Huynh Dong, born in 1958 – calls the Ancient City of Hoi An his native home – started his education at a tender age. His early studies of Chinese Calligraphy marked the start of his masterfully diversified education which lead him to the wonderful world of Arts and Culture.
