Caves Santa

For over 13 years with excursions, boat trips, visits to the caves, the coast and the marine territory we have been happy to make our customers live real "experiences" in Santa Maria di Leuca and Salento. We will visit both seas, both Adriatic and Ionian. Swim stops will be made and our skippers will personally accompany guests inside the caves. In addition to snorkeling equipment, there will be SUP boards with which everyone can try their hand and have fun and equipment for those less able to swim. During the route there will be a detailed description of the places that will be visited, with historical, geographical notes and stories about the area. On the boat, there will be other guests with whom to share experiences and socialize.

You will be visiting 3 of the remarkable caves here on the Island together with a Native or Local tour guide. We will pick you up at the ship's port or your hotel or apartment. Transportation from and to your accommodation is covered. The caves are located on the North side of the Island. One at the entrance of Santa Barbara and one just down the road at Hill Top; we will stop at the second Cave. This area is rich in caves. The first Cave we will be visiting has a ladder you must climb to get into Cave. When you are in the Cave, there will be bats and many unique rocks. When you are in the Cave, you will see a lot of types of limestones, as you can see in the pictures, and some of the rocks look like they have gliders on them because when you shine your light or flashlight on them, they start glowing. If you like cliff jumping, we will be visiting a small and low cliff jumping after the cave tour. It is enjoyable!!!! 🙂 The ridge is not high at all, and everyone can jump from it.

1) From the ancient Posta Santa Croce walking along the transhumance routes in Puglia. We will start from Dolmen La Chianca, a prehistoric megalithic tomb from the Bronze Age. Crossing one of the typical blades of this territory we will reach a vast complex of karst origin characterized by the presence of caves where in 1955 a femur belonging to an adult individual of Homo sapiens neandertalensis was found. 2) Along the sea with a fantastic coastline full of sea caves that they were inhabited since the Neolithic, as attested by the materials found by Majellaro and Prelorenzo. We will discover the Caves of Ripalta. Along this stretch of the Via Francigena you can also admire the typical Apulian rural landscape with its dry stone walls, haystacks and small houses. We will continue on a short stretch through a fantastic meadow of spontaneous orchids and we will be able to reach Cala Pantano, a small inlet created by the blades, erosive furrows typical of the Apulian landscape.

The tour proposed by our company has a duration of about 3h 30min departing from the marina of Torre Vado. The first stop is in the Ionian Sea, where the Dragon Grotto, the Cave of the Stable and the Nativity Scene, the Giants' Grotto, the 3 Door Cave, the Child's Cave and the River Cave are illustrated. After Punta Ristola, the Tacco d'Italia, you arrive at Santa Maria di Leuca, where the skipper will provide some historical hints and curiosities about the points of interest of the marina. The Staff, after passing Punta Meliso, a meeting place between the two seas, will continue with the presentation of the caves of the Adriatic Sea: Terradico, Tenda degli Indiani, Grotta dei Gabbiani, la Verdusella, Grotta del Soffio and Grotta della Vora.
