Relax after your busy week in the beautiful turquoise water of the Kikuletwa Hot Springs (they are not really that hot but more refreshing)! Experience the way the locals travel by hopping in a Tuk Tuk and weaving your way through local Maasai villages, Baobab trees and farms to see how people live in the country side. When we arrive at the hot springs after about 1 – 1.5hrs travel enjoy the tranquility of the water in a quiet space or opt for the rope swing for a bit of excitement! Entry ticket and lunch will be provided. Tubes are available for hire. The hot springs are home to many Doctor fish who will clean your dead skin if you sit still! When you are ready we will return back to Moshi and drop you off at your desired location. Note: the amenities (including change rooms and toilets) at the hot springs are very basic so we would encourage guests to use the bathroom before leaving and wearing their swimming attire to start the tour. Don’t forget to bring towels!

The Kikuletwa Hot Springs are certainly one of the most beautiful places in Tanzania – the hot springs are surrounded by fig and palm trees and winding roots – a real hidden paradise. The crystal clear, turquoise waters invite you for a refreshing swim. Although called a hot spring, water in Kikuletwa is not hot, but rather refreshing since the water source is from the Kilimanjaro mountain itself. Most of the visitors arrive around noon, but we arrive early in the morning when it is still quiet. Therefore, with some luck we will spot the blue monkeys in the tree tops, before they later dissapear in the bush.

Materuni is located under the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Our guide will pick you up from your hotel early morning then head to Moshi. The village is surrounded by beautiful tropical rainforests giving you a scenic view of the city. Visitors will also get to explore the cultural heritage of the Chagga people such as banana beer and coffee roasted traditionally, you can join in the coffee-making process to its final. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is a good place for a refreshing swim after the hike but it depends on the weather. You will have your lunch and fresh fruits at Materuni after a cup of coffee. After Materuni you will move to Kikuletwa hot spring with a fantastic pool with warm water and fish in it offering a free legs massage. You will have a few hours to relax, chat, and swim while having a beer/soft drink before heading back to your hotel or airport.

At these idyllic underground springs with the crystal clear, turquoise water, you can enjoy the perfect rest after a strenuous Kilimanjaro climb or adventurous wilderness safari. But also for day-trippers, they are an ideal destination. Whether it's the old, the young, the quiet or the active, the Chemka Hot Springs invite you to linger, swim and explore. The pond is very deep, in some places up to 10 meters, but the water is so clear that you can see the bottom well all the time. On the shore under lush trees you can camp, enjoy your snacks or soak up the sun.

After enjoying a local lunch, you will depart for the Chemka Hot Springs. We will pick you up from Materuni post-lunch and transport you to the Chemka Hot Springs. The journey to the Hot Springs is on a very bumpy and winding road, making the drive last over 40 minutes. Upon arrival at the Hot Springs, you have the opportunity to swim, unwind, have your lunch, and bask in the sunshine. Should you wish, we can prepare a barbecue for you while you swim.
