This is a remarkable half-day tour, showing you the very best of Grenada in a few hours. See St. George's, the prettiest capital town in the Caribbean. Travel up the western coast and visit the picturesque Concord Waterfalls nestled in the lush mountains where you can be refreshed by swimming in the cool water. Pass through the fishing town of Gouyave. Then continue to the chocolate factory and learn how chocolate is made. The tour would not be complete without a visit to the island's interior to see the Grand Etang Lake and rainforest, in Grenada's largest national park.

Join us from Bean to Bar! We invite you to get the inside story of how chocolate is made from Founder and CEO, Dr. Gunars Valkirs. Walk through the chocolate factory as he explains the steps of production! Along the way, you will taste samples from different steps of the chocolate manufacturing process that are not otherwise available to the public. Then taste the finished chocolate, 3 squares of our Maui Grown chocolate and 4 more of your own choosing! For an additional charge, enjoy alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage pairings with your tasting. You will also receive a $25 gift card to purchase chocolate in the factory store or on our website. For those 21 years of age and older, alcoholic beverages are available in the upstairs pavilion for pairing with the chocolate tasting selections for an additional charge. A valid photo ID will be required for any alcoholic beverage service.

You will learn about the process of chocolate making and will create your own chocolate bar that you will take home! This activity is an authentic Honduran experience, it’s family friendly and perfect for couples, solo travelers and anyone who loves chocolate. Note: Classes are scheduled based on availability and your needs, usually starting at 2:00pm. We do the classes based on reservations. If you're visiting Roatan on a cruise, we have to make sure that we can schedule the class and bring you back to the ship on time. For cruisers, we’ll try to arrive at the factory as early as possible. Therefore, we ask for you to disembark as soon as your ship arrives. It is an unique experience to learn how the chocolate is made from the beans to the bar and taste the different chocolate from different islands origin and with local ingredients such as coconut, coffee, local nuts (Nangai), sea salt, kava, cristallized ginger, cristallized turmeric, cocoa nibs and chili pepper. Aelan Chocolate Makers has a strong social responsibility as it is owned at 80% by the local NGO ACTIV (Alternative Communities Trade In Vanuatu), which assists the cocoa producers and the local communities from the archipelago of Vanuatu for best agricultural practices training and market access. The ACTIV centre made of local materials regroups the Aelan Chocolate factory, the extra Virgin Coconut oil factory and the Handicraft centre with the Island shop, which is access-free. The facility is suitable for family with kids and wheel-chairs. There are beautiful gardens surrounding the structures and gorgeous blooms and fruit are on show throughout the year.
