Karen Blixen Museum Karen Blixen Museum is a national museum in Kenya situated about 19 kilometres from Nairobi City centre. It was built in 1912 and was home to the iconic Danish author of ‘Out of Africa’ (won an Oscar Award)-Karen Blixen. This famous author, artist and poet lived here while setting up her coffee farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills. In case you missed out, Out of Africa is a book which Karen Blixen wrote about her stay in Kenya and of her beloved farm, and was later made into a great movie. It shows the struggles she underwent to keep her estate and how her understanding and love grew for the culture and the people around her.

This tour gives us the opportunity to visit and explore the places where St. Paul preached to the ancient Greeks in Athens and Corinth, in a day. The tour starts by visiting the “Areos Pagos” (literally, Mars Hill) at the foot of the Acropolis. Continuing our tour to our next stop, the “Agora”, we’ll have the opportunity of a sightseeing in the centre of Athens. (Temple of Zeus-1896 Olympic stadium-Presidential Palace-Greek Parliament-Changing of the Guards). With our visit to the “Agora” we conclude the Athens part of our tour and we continue to visit Corinth and the Corinth Canal. The Canal (approx. 6 km long connecting the Aegean with the Ionian Sea)where we have a brief stop for photos. Then we visit Ancient Corinth where we visit the museum and the archaeological site where the “Bema” is. We conclude our tour in Corinth with lunch in a traditional Greek taverna and we start our return trip to Athens via Kechries, the port of Corinth from where St. Paul sailed to Ephessus.

Karen museum, at the foot of the Ngong Hills, 10 kilometers from Nairobi, lies a 19th-century bungalow named after renowned Danish author Karen Blixen. The building houses the Karen Blixen Museum. With its serene environment, lush green lawns, and cool breeze, one cannot help but fall for its charm and promise of tranquillity. Karen Blixen and her husband Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke bought the house built in 1912 by Swedish engineer Ake Sjogren. It served as a farmhouse on their 4,500-acre farm. Ms. Blixen came to Kenya in 1914 to get married to Baron Fincke. The couple grew coffee, though it was not as profitable as they had expected. Seven years later, Blixen’s marriage turned sour and she and her husband divorced in 1921, leaving her the sole manager of their farm. She later fell in love with a big-game hunter named Denys Finch Hatton.

The farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s an autobiography by the same title. This is where the Danish author of the famed memoir Out of Africa lived on from 1917 to 1931

Your day tour starts 6:00AM by picking you from your hotel/residence and a short transfer to Nairobi National Park. 10.20hrs You will exit the Nairobi National Park to be taken to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage Conservation Center, Once you arrive you will take a walk through the nursery and you will explore the pathe and trails the infants take.  There after you will head to the Utamaduni/Mamba Village  for lunch(Own Expense). You will then be driven to the old colonial house of Danish author, Karen Blixen. Now a museum, this property and the surrounding Ngong Hills were made famous in the book and then the movie ‘Out of Africa’. This is a small tour that gives one a chance to interact with giraffes in their natural habitat and Karen Blixen Museum was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. the Museum belongs to a different time period in the history of Kenya. The Giraffe Centre in Nairobi is an amazing place to visit. It started as a rehabilitation project to rescue the Rothschild Giraffe. There were only 120 giraffes left in a ranch in Western Kenya when the Giraffe Center was founded. The giraffe centre provides you with pellets that you can feed the giraffes by hand with. You can even give take photos while feeding the animals by your mouth and it seems like you are kissing the giraffe. That is a priceless photo opportunity to miss.
