Shanhua Temple was originally founded during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) but it was destroyed by war at the end of the Liao Dynasty . During the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234) it was rebuilt on a large scale. It has been preserved well until now. The Datong Nine Dragon Screen, built over 600 years ago, is presently the oldest and largest glazed screen in China today. Huayan temple Built during the Liao Dynasty , it is the largest and best preserved monastery of the Liao Dynasty in existence in China.
