From there you start the bridges circuit, crossing a series of suspended bridges, finishing with a mini zipline. The spectacular and awe-inspiring Birds of Eden is the largest free-flight single dome aviary in the world. The sanctuary encompasses 2.3ha of forested land, covered by mesh and with a 1.2km walkway. Visitors are welcome to explore at their own pace or request a guided tour at no extra cost. The sanctuary is home to 220 different species & subspecies of birds totaling over 3500 birds. From the indigenous and beautiful Knysna lourie with its awkward call for such a gracious bird, the other lourie (Turaco) species, parrots, parakeets, waterfowl, flamingos, starlings, robins and graceful cranes. The sanctuary includes a deep gorge with a waterfall and the aviary is approximately 50m high, covering all the treetops and allowing ample flying space for its winged inhabitants. Monkeyland is the world's first and largest free-roaming primate sanctuary hosting 9 exotic and indigenous species and over 550 primates. At Monkeyland you will go on a 1-hour, guided tour into the 12-hectare forest with one of the trained professional guides. The guides will attempt to find many different species and give the you ample time to take photos and ask questions. Group size is limited to 16 guests. You can book a guided tour in French but we would need a minimum of 48 hours notification and a set time of arrival to guarantee this for you.
