A trek that allows us to climb to the top of the The highest active volcano in Europe and to listen to the breath of a living mountain. The ascent is carried out by cable car and 4 × 4 minibuses up to an altitude of 2900m in the area of Torre del Filosofo, from here after about 1.5h of uphill walking you will arrive on the edge of the central crater from which you can observe the Bocca Nuova (3250m ), which opened in 1968, probably the most impressive crater. The itinerary could change due to the activity of the volcano or weather conditions

Etna Volcano: South Side Guided Summit Hike


Each excursion is carried out in compliance with the levels of volcanic risk. After the meeting and departure from Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza (Etna Sud), with the cable car and 4×4 jeep you reach an altitude of 2,800 meters and from here in about 2 hours of walking through lava flows and environments looking lunar, you reach the Etna Summit Craters at 3340mt. Here we will walk on the spectacular rim of the Central Crater, we will face the dizzying Northeast Crater and we will see at our side the famous Southeast Crater, author of the most recent and impressive eruptions. In addition to the vastness of the summit craters, you will admire a unique volcanic environment, with gas emissions, volcanic bombs and the sparkling colors of the ground thanks to the sublimation of various elements, including sulfur in particular. During the descent we will visit the craters of Barbagallo and cross a lava channel. Once again at 2500 m with the Etna cable car we will return to the starting point.


2002 Crater Excursion – Northern Etna


The tour to the craters of 2002 is one of the most sought after destinations and chosen by tourists on the northern side of Etna, far from the large mass of visitors. This tour allows you to savor the authenticity of the Etna volcanic environment in total tranquility. Our guests accompanied by guides will be accompanied on a visit to the remains of the tourist infrastructures destroyed by the lava flows of the great eruption of 2002, through woods, lunar landscapes and finally on the edges of explosive craters, all in a path of just over 4.5 km roundtrip. Possibility to rent boots + jacket on site. Program: Meeting scheduled at Piano Provenzana (Etna Nord) at 9:45 am. Departure from Piano Provenzana at an altitude of 1800 meters at 10:00. Initial briefing. Beginning of the trek. Visit to the eruptive fractures up to a maximum altitude of 2100 meters. Trekking descent to the starting point. Total duration: 3h Difficulty: T (Tourist). Etna Summit Craters Excursion


This tour will allow you to get close to the area of the summit craters of Etna characterized by the typical volcanic activity with gas and sulfur emissions. With the naturalistic guide you will go to the entrance of the Etna cable car and from here you will take the cable car that will take you to 2500mt., from there you will be transported by 4×4 bus to an altitude of 2800mt. where you will find the volcanological mountain guide who will show you the craters of the 2002 eruption and at the same time you will find yourself face to face with the smoking summit craters. It will also be possible to choose the option only with the ascent by cable car up to 2500 meters. At the end of the high-altitude tour, the guide will show you other peculiar elements of Etna located at lower altitudes to finally take you to a farm located in Zafferana Etnea to taste the typical products of the place.


Etna – Trekking to the summit craters (only guide service) experienced hikers


Trekking in small groups! Ascent with off-road vehicles along the panoramic path on the northern side of the volcano, till a height of 2825 mt. From this point we start the ascent on foot on a path surrounded by volcanic scoria and bombs. After doing 470mt positive level difference, we will reach the edge of the Central Crater (main crater of the volcano), at an altitude of 3300 mt. There we will stop to admire the uniqueness and the processes of the volcanic environment. the descent is planned on foot from 3300 to 1800 meters for about 7 kilometers, passing through large gullies full of soft volcanic sand to the starting point of the excursion. Total kilometers (round-trip):12 km Max altitude reached:3300 mt Min altitude reached:1800 mt Total climb uphill:470 mt Total climb downhill:1500 mt – The long descent could be harder than the climb, as you descend 1500 meters of negative altitude. Difficulty: Absolutely suitable for experienced hikers.


Etna and Taormina from Cefalù


Perched on a clifftop overlooking two sweeping bays, the town of Taormina is one of the prettiest in Italy. Dating back as far as 358 BC, it’s home to some of the most well-preserved buildings, medieval courtyards and historic landmarks in this corner of the world. This trip starts with some free time to wander around. Sip a cappuccino in the Piazza Nove Aprile, browse the chic boutiques, or check out the town’s star attraction – its ancient Greek-Roman theatre. Once you’ve had your fill of sightseeing, it’s on to Mt Etna – Europe’s highest volcano. Its summit measures up at 3,330 metres above sea level, but the coach will only take you up to 1,900 metres. When you get there, if you want you can grab a cable car or ATV and journey up to 2,900 metres.


Mount Etna and Alcantara Gorges from Taormina


Leave Taormina and ride around Mount Etna by coach and by a 1950s-era train on the Circumetnea Railway (the train is not operative during winter time and will be substituted by the coach and a visit of Randazzo town). This exciting day trip also includes visit of the rock pools and canyons of Alcantara Gorges (entrance own expense) and the foothills of Sicily’s vivacious volcano. If you want to see Mount Etna’s smouldering upper craters, upgrade (extra) to include transport by cable car and jeeps and a walking tour to the summit craters. Note that from November to March, the tour does not include the train ride nor the optional upgrade to the upper areas. A visit of Randazzo town is provided in substitution. A minimum number of 12 participants is necessary during winter.


Summit Etna North 3300mt: 4×4 and trekking


Departures planned from Piano Provenzana with off-road vehicles along the panoramic path that leads up to the north side of Mt. Etna, through ancient craters and recent lava flows up to 2825 mt. Then we start the ascent (470mt positive level difference) on foot on a path surrounded by volcanic bombs and scoria, till we will reach the Central Crater at a height of 3300 mt, where we will stop to admire the greatness,the uniqueness and the processes of this extraordinary volcanic environment, combined with the spectacle of the panorama that can be enjoyed from the roof of Sicily (the visibility might change according to weather or volcanic conditions). The descent goes back along the same path, while the last part will be made inside little channels constituted by soft and friable volcanic scoria, on which you can walk easily without any problem adopting the necessary precautions, till a height of 2825 mt where we will get the off road vehicles for the trip back down to Piano Provenzana.


Mount Etna Morning Tour from Catania

Etna Top Easy


Starting from Catania, one our guide will lead you along a beautiful naturalistic path, while explaining the origins of our Volcano. At 2000 mt you will catch cable car to reach 2500 mt and then on a 4×4 vehicle you will go up 2950 mt. Alpine guides will show you the beautiful landscape of the base of the summit craters seeing at 1 km of distance the main crater. Please note that the cost of the cable car and 4×4 ticket is not included in the tour price. You will pay them to the guide directly on the day of the tour. * In winter time, in case the trails are covered by a thick layer of snow (usually from January to March), part of the excursion will take place using snowshoes and sticks. It could be possible that you will go on the snow cat vehicle with an extra cost of 30 euro per person. Then, join with us the visit of a cave of volcanic origins with all the equipment provided by us. At lunchtime enjoy an outdoor picnic made of Sicilian typical street food, water, and local wine.

Etna North: Guided trekking to Summit volcano craters


Starting from Piano Provenzana 1800masl (Etna Nord), the unique slope that currently allows the climb to the summit in safe conditions, with special 4×4 we will arrive to 2825masl (Piano delle Concazze.) From here begins the ascent of about 2h to the main crater rim at an altitude of 3.320masl. You will walk on the edge of the Central Crater, Northeast Crater and we will admire the famous Southeast Crater, author of the most recent and impressive eruptions. You will surrounded by a unique volcanic environment, with gas emissions, volcanic bombs, and the sparkling colors of the ground due to the sublimation of various elements, including sulfur in particular. After the visit at the top, the panoramic path of descent characterized by fine volcanic ash and scorie, will give us a unforgettable view of Sicily coast During the hike the guide will explain the history, the formation and the peculiarities of the volcano. Once again at 2825masl, with the 4×4 we will return to Piano Provenzana
