We will be hiking up Lions Head, Cape Town's most Instragram'able hike. We plan to either catch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean or sunrise from the Hottentots Holland mountains. We enjoy some amazing photo opportunities before our descent. During a sunset hike, we descend in the dark using our flashlights (provided). During a sunrise hike, we may hike the first part in the dark using our flashlights (provided). While the hike is regarded as easier than Table Mountain, it still involves steep rocky and narrow terrain at certain points from about half up way and a section where the use of steel handles and chains need to be used to get up 2 pitches of about 3 meters each (only up and not down). Quite adventurous indeed. This hike has been an age old tradition for locals especially during the full moon and on clear/windless nights/mornings where the lights of the city below dazzle and the moon and stars show off its beauty in the night sky.

This is a super fun afternoon and night activity that's a little different than anything offered on the islands. We will start will a fantastic spot to watch the sunset. We have a few places to choose from. You might not always get the sun dipping into the ocean, But the location will be unique. After the sun sets, we will head to a very dark location where we can start having some fun. Your guide will show you how to light paint. If you have no idea what this is, even better. You will be able to create art at night with our tools. We recommend bringing a camera that can adjust the settings for long exposures. If you don't, your guide will take some photos with their cameras and email a link after the tour. This 2 hour Private Sunset Sail, the Captain will take you (and up to 6 people) to Port Royal Sound (North side of island – generally best conditions for sailing). During Sunset, This is generally still pretty breezy with some good sailing. Perfect way to wind down and enjoy the ending of a great day. We will take the sails down to peacefully enjoy the beautiful show of an amazing Hilton Head Sunset. After the sun sets, we motor back to the marina and usually dock right around last light for the day. The trail going up Lion’s head is a screw top trail you’ll be circling the mountain getting to the top. At one point the path gives way to rough ground you have to step up using your hands to scramble over rocks. You will then continue steeply upwards to the first ladder, before traversing along a shelf with a chain handrail. Next, you will reach a fork, where you will have the choices to either veer left to circumnavigate two rock pitches or to turn right and climb the rock pitches. If you are not into vertical rock steps continue left, past some huge pine trees to gain the crest of the southeast ridge. At the summit of Lion's Head one has a 360 degree view it is one of the three iconic peaks that frame the city of Cape Town. It has Table Mountain as its backdrop and it is situated in the smallest and richest floral kingdoms in the world. Then little by little, the city lights will turn on or off offering a new sight.
