At once the Doge’s residence, seat of government and court of justice and prisons, the Palace was for centuries the symbol of the wealth and power of the Venetian Republic.

Just a few minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Sarasota is our favorite local beach, Turtle Beach. It is only a few short miles from the main Siesta Key beach to Turtle Beach and the Sarasota County trolley will drop you right there. Not only is this area such a beautiful and quiet place, it is also a great place to paddle! We start on the intercostal and paddle down a short canal to the Bay. We paddle around the mangrove islands through a mangrove tunnel or two and alongside a bird rookery. We paddle around the mangrove islands of Jim Neville Marine Preserve and then to a "secret" beach. This beach is only accessible by boat so we may have it to ourselves. Such a beautiful place for a quick swim or just stopping for a few moments to relax. You may want to stay here all day. This location is home to all kinds of wildlife including manatees (when water temps are warm enough), dolphins, beautiful sea and shorebirds and lots of fish.

This trip begins as we pickup at our location in Gatlinburg, TN. We travel in comfortable and eco-friendly vans to our first stop at the remains of a long-gone resort town dating back more than 100 years. We'll learn about the history of logging in the Smokies, the lives of the early Appalachian pioneers, and the founding of the national park. From here we'll travel up the mountains on one of the most scenic roads in the southeast. Along the way we'll stop at scenic overlooks for pictures, questions, and interpretation of the area. Finally we arrive at Newfound Gap and the 5,000 foot-high boarder between Tennessee and North Carolina. Here we will learn about the 2,200 mile-long Appalachian Trail and the the site where President Franklin Roosevelt gave the park dedication in 1940.

Spruce Creek estuary is a vast area to explore particularly when you take into account the smaller channels that only kayaks can squeeze through. El Gremi de Velluters, one of the key producers of silk and velvet in Valencia, established his factory in the XV century, in the same building that is today the Valencia's Silk Museum. Here, you can learn all his secrets: how silk was discovered, how they used to breed the species of worm that produces silk, how they created this elaborate and luxurious fabric together and who was wearing it at the time. Valencia Silk Museum has just been opened to the public, following an incredible restauration of this stunning, historical building. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday and offers permanent and temporary specially curated exhibitions. The tickets include an audio guide that can be downloaded with a QR code from your mobile phone. Headphones are required to avoid disturbing other visitors.

The best way to see the beautiful nature at Amager Beach is by rental a Stand Up Paddle board. Amager Beach is a man-made sandy island which is over 4km long and have a lagoon in the middle between the mainland and the island. On the other side of the island you will find the ocean "Øresund". You will find a lots of birdlife and watersports such as kayaking, Stand Up Paddling, kite- and windsurfing in the lagoon and out in "Øresund". Amager Beach and Kajakhotellet is located approximated 8km from Copenhagen Central Station. You can easily get here by metro to "Femøren" Station and from there it only takes 10 min walk.
