At Smile Organic Farm, we do not teach you only how to cook Thai food. Our school is set in a beautiful, serene organic farm and garden, you will learn how to grow vegetables and taste herbs in our own garden, as well as cooking and enjoy your food in a relaxing atmosphere. Smile Organic Farm is located 45 minutes away from Chiang Mai old city; near San Kamphaeng Hot Springs. We will stop at a local market on the way to the school, you will see the traditional way of life of locals who live in the countryside of Chiang Mai. We have an organic kitchen garden where we grow everything by ourselves; grow with love as we wish to have good health. We use them to cook our own healthy Thai food and we also proudly provide them for your dishes. All dishes are available as vegetarian or vegan, Teachers are experienced, fun, and able to give students personal help. Our recipes are beneficial and easy to be recreated at home and students will receive E-book for all recipes by email.

We will start the tour with a delicious welcome drink prepared with the fresh fruits of the area. Our guide will highlight the main objectives of the farm, which include the promotion of the sustainable use of natural resources and preservation of Costa Rican customs and traditions. After this warm welcome, we will get to try milking cows by hand. Anyone can participate in this experience, especially the little ones. Next, we will participate in the process of extracting cane juice and have the opportunity to taste the juice with combined with a variety of ingredients such as liquor, peppermint, and other products obtained from the farm. We will visit a small archaeological ranch where we can observe different indigenous pieces and use them in the creation of artisanal cocoa. At the end of the tour, we will share a lunch made with farm-fresh products such as cheese, tortillas, hash, and more. Undoubtedly, this is an experience full of culture, tradition, and Costa Rican customs.

Escape from the bustling city just about 15 minutes by cycling from Hoi An old quarter, you will enjoy a farming area with nice weather and lovely people, a green area called Tra Que vegetable village. It’s an easy bicycle ride and a quite scenic one. You will see rice fields, glassy rivers, and lazy water buffaloes lounging in the mud. Take the best white-water rafting trip! Paddle your way through Sarapiqui river, while surrounded by tropical scenery of the Costa Rican rain forest. Half way down, we will make a break and provide you with a little fruit snack, before we again continue down the rapids. After about 2 hours, we drive back to La Fortuna and reward you with a delicious organic lunch at our restaurant. We make you homemade coffee and take you for a small walk up in our organic farm behind the restaurant. Here we will show you how we grow all the organic food. The best way to finish the day, is with a sugarcane demonstration, where you will get to taste the pure sugarcane juice and also the alcohol.
