This very remarkable Waterfall is one of the tallest in the area, spewing crystal clear glacier water 80m into its basin. The lovely and attractive path leading to Materuni Waterfall is located 2400m above sea level. It crosses through valleys and hills covered by tropical rainforest, past coffee, banana and avocado “shambas”, the Kiswahili word for farms. On a clear day, great views of Kibo and Moshi town can be seen. The hike to the base of the Waterfall can be demanding at some point and hiking boots are recommended especially during wet seasons. As this trip is so close to Moshi town it is ideal for those people with limited time but who would still like to see some of the nature and beauty that this region of Tanzania has to offer.

This magnificent waterfall, one of the tallest in the region, cascades crystal-clear glacial water from a height of 70 meters into its basin. The scenic path to Materuni Waterfall, situated 2500 meters above sea level, winds through valleys and hills shrouded in tropical rainforest, alongside coffee, banana, and avocado "shambas"—the Kiswahili term for farms. After enjoying a local lunch, you will depart for the Chemka Hot Springs. We will pick you up from Materuni post-lunch and transport you to the Chemka Hot Springs. The journey to the Hot Springs is on a very bumpy and winding road, making the drive last over 40 minutes. Upon arrival at the Hot Springs, you have the opportunity to swim, unwind, have your lunch, and bask in the sunshine. Should you wish, we can prepare a barbecue for you while you swim. First you will visit the waterfalls, which are around a 40 minute walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga, village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high.
