We depart from dock 4 of Puerto Colón, we will set sail in search of cetaceans, we will navigate in the Teno-Rasca special conservation area and up to a distance of 3 miles from the coast, reaching a depth of one thousand meters. We will go in search of the Calderón tropical, one of the main resident species of Tenerife. From the moment we leave the pier very close to the coast, we can already find dolphins, turtles and seabirds. With luck, we may also see some of the migratory cetaceans that frequent the Canary Islands. We will approach them at a reasonable distance so as not to disturb them and to be able to observe, photograph and record them, the crew will be happy to explain and show you the information on the cetaceans that we have on board.

Elafonisi in southwest of Crete is famous for its pink sand and low turquoise waters. Repeatedly this beach has been chosen to be among the world’s most beautiful. The pink sand is produced by the large amount of pink shells that get ground up by the sea. The area is a part of the European Natura 2000 protecting program. The water is generally quite shallow and safe for children. .For a most conferrable journey to/from Rethymno we make some stops.Agia Sophia Cave is a place of archaeological, geological and historical interest. The small church of Agia Sophia lays at the entrance to the cave that contains many rows of massive stalactites and stalagmites. In the traditional Cretan mountain village Elos, you’ll find the largest number of chestnuts trees on the island. During the stops it will be possible to buy something to drink and eat. Elafonisi is an oblong, which often”breaks” in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island and a “Natura 2000” protected area. The island is full of dunes with sand lilies and junipers (like-cedar trees). The endangered turtles Caretta-Caretta and several rare animals nest on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants, animals from the area. Exotic beach with white sand and turquoise waters, reminding of the Caribbean, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from thousands of broken shells. Near the “breaking” point of the peninsula, the water does not exceed 1m, creating a small lagoon, ideal for children.

Preveli is a famous beach on the south side of Crete Island. The local legend says that the mythological king Odysseus stopped in Preveli on the way to his homeland, Ithaka. What makes Preveli beach so famous is the palm forest surrounding the river, which comes from a gorge and ends up in the sea. The exotic beauty of nature attracted in the 60s and 70s hippies from around the globe who used to live here and make huts under the palm trees. Due to the sensitivity of nature around Preveli Beach, the area is protected by the Natura 2000, and it is a natural reserve.

The trail follows S. Lourenço Point, the eastern-most peninsula of Madeira island, named after the caravel sailed by João Gonçalves de Zarco, one of the three discoverers of Madeira island. The semi-arid climate and its exposure to North winds have sculpted the low vegetation and explain the lack of trees, which distinguish this area from the rest of the Island and is a veritable natural heritage. Here you can see the Island’s basal plate at its best and several rare and endemic plants. Of the 138 species of plant identified on the peninsula, 31 are endemic (exclusive) to Madeira island. In terms of fauna there is one of the largest colonies of seagull in the region. Along the route you can often see several bird species. In the sea, you may be lucky enough to spot the world’s rarest seal, known in Madeira as a Sea-wolf (Monachus monachus). On the horizon to the South you can see Ilhas Desertas (Deserted Islands) and to the North the Porto Santo Islands.
