Elafonisi, The exotic pink beach of Crete! Tour from Chania


Elafonisi is an oblong, which often”breaks” in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island and a “Natura 2000” protected area. The island is full of dunes with sand lilies and junipers (like-cedar trees). The endangered turtles Caretta-Caretta and several rare animals nest on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants, animals from the area. Exotic beach with white sand and turquoise waters, reminding of the Caribbean, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from thousands of broken shells. Near the “breaking” point of the peninsula, the water does not exceed 1m, creating a small lagoon, ideal for children.


Elafonisi Beach Private Tour (price per group of 6)


This is a private tour with a 7-seater van for a maximum 6 guests. Elafonisi island and its beach are located in the southwestern tip of Crete, about 2 hours drive from Chania. It is regarded one of the best beaches in the world. This island is connected with Crete with a narrow and shallow strip of sand, forming with its long peninsula, exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise water. A shallow lagoon is formed, and you can walk to Elafonisi island and explore its beaches. The road to get there goes through breathtaking Topolia Gorge, picturesque villages and the fascinating varied landscapes. The aim of this tour is not only to visit a beach, but the trip to get there is an experience itself. We will park 1/4 of mile (1/2km) away and have to hike on a dirt path to the beach.
