This is a private tour with a 7-seater van for a maximum 6 guests. Elafonisi island and its beach are located in the southwestern tip of Crete, about 2 hours drive from Chania. It is regarded one of the best beaches in the world. This island is connected with Crete with a narrow and shallow strip of sand, forming with its long peninsula, exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise water. A shallow lagoon is formed, and you can walk to Elafonisi island and explore its beaches. The road to get there goes through breathtaking Topolia Gorge, picturesque villages and the fascinating varied landscapes. The aim of this tour is not only to visit a beach, but the trip to get there is an experience itself. We will park 1/4 of mile (1/2km) away and have to hike on a dirt path to the beach. I'm Panagiotis and I have started fishing at the age of 5 years old. I remember myself going with my father, who was my first teacher for spearfishing. I have been at the sea from such a very young age and my ability to dive deep, gave me the advantage to learn quickly about the habits of fish. I became a freediver and a freediver-instructor. Now, I want to teach you how to free-dive and go spearfishing to catch that big fish you have always been dreaming of! Even if you are not experienced in spearfishing you can always observe me going for spearfishing. I'll catch your fish and then we'll grill it on board of our RIB boat and dine all together! Chania since ancient times was a melting pot of civilizations and cultures, each invader and new town resident leaving its mark on history, architecture, and culture. Chania is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe dating back to Minoan civilization around 3000BC. In this tour, we will try to trace the remains of civilizations, in the buildings and monuments. By doing so we will go through the waterfront, alleyways, fortifications, viewpoints, and marks of the past. We will see how Chania has changed over time, the buildings added and destroyed. The city was divided into Christian, Muslim, and Jewish quarters. We will go through them where I will show historical points of interest not so obvious to the average visitor. Although the tour focuses on history, we will explore the culture and traditions of Chania and how they have merged to form the modern-day city of Chania.
