Canyoning Adventure in Ribeira da Salga (Sao Miguel – Azores)


From this tour, you can expect a wild and (almost) untouched nature, with difficult accesses, some steep paths, and a lot of physical exercise. The highest rappel can reach up to 16 meters, and the highest jump up to 8 meters (if you feel uncomfortable about the jumps, know that there are alternatives).

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation. We'll head to Chão da Lagoa in the Ecological Park of Funchal, pausing for a briefing to gear up. Our journey starts with a short, scenic hike through the Laurissilva Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This canyoning tour blends adventure and nature, as we navigate a mountainous watercourse by swimming, jumping, and rappelling down waterfalls. The Chão da Lagoa route includes five rappels, the highest at 18 meters (60 feet). Guided by experienced professionals, you'll safely rappel down waterfalls into crystal-clear pools. No prior experience is needed. Please bring a towel, bathing suit, sports shoes that can get wet, and a change of clothes— all other equipment is provided. We might take a short break to snack and relax. After the adventure, you'll be returned to your accommodation.
