San Pedrillo

This tour is the best way to get to know Corcovado because we visit two different stations; with two different ecosystems; On the one hand Sirena that we will appreciate the fauna and the reconstruction of a forest of only 47 years that was cut down and is gradually being regenerated. On the other hand, San Pedrillo, with a totally virgin and pure primary rain forest, which saves the energy of more than 4000 years old.

Start time is at our office at 6:30 a.m. Once you arrive at our office, you will enjoy a coffee and cookies waiting for the group to be completed. Once gathered we will head to the Whale Marine National Park to board the boat. The boat ride to Corcovado, San Pedrillo station is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive at San Pedrillo station the guide will start giving safety instructions to follow on the trails, the hike may consist of two short walks with a break between walks or it may be a long walk, the duration of the walk in total may be between 2 to 3 hours with a medium/low difficulty. During the walk you will have the joy of observing large mammals such as Tapir, Puma and Monkeys, reptile species, amphibians, arachnids and a lot of flora. Once the hike is over enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch to finish the view of Corcovado.

On this tour you will be able to see the free animals in the Corcovado National Park, as well as enjoy our nature and the intensity of a virgin jungle of Costa Rica, also our guides are certified by the Ministry of Tourism of Costa Rica and Corcovado. From Playa Uvita you will board a boat that will take you on a scenic walk along the Pacific Ocean with a tour of about 1.5 hours. The boat ride itself is an adventure, as it often offers sightings of dolphins, sea turtles and, if you are lucky humpback whales (January-April) A professional naturalist guide will guide you through the trails, noting the incredible diversity of flora and fauna attentive to howler monkeys, red macaws, tapirs and a wide variety of birds and reptiles. This activity is perfect for nature lovers, photographers and anyone looking to experience the wild side of Costa Rica’s rainforest on a well-organized day tour. After a walking time of around 3.5 hours on the various trails or permitted walking areas within the park you will enjoy lunch and after rest you will embark back to Playa Uvita.

Corcovado National Park is a unique place and consists of an encounter with wildlife and nature. You must take a highly qualified guide as visitors cannot enter the park alone. You can get there either by public transport, 4WD rented car, shared or private taxi leaving from Puerto Jiménez (PJ). Throughout the hike you cross various rivers, long stretches of beach, and forest trails. It's a total of 20 Km for an estimated 7-9 hours hike. Los Patos – Sirena Hike: This hike starts or ends in Los Patos ranger station, the only access is with taxi from La Palma or PJ. You cross multiple rivers and walk through primary and secondary forest for approximately 8-10 hours, covering a distance of 24 Km. This route is only recommended for the dry season and experienced hikers. Boat transfer Drake – Sirena: Leaving from Agujitas beach, it's a short 1 hour boat ride to the heart of Corcovado, where you can easily spot abundant biodiversity. This option is ideal for families, short-time visits and non-experienced hikers. Boat transfer Puerto Jimenez – Sirena: Leaving from Puerto Jimenez's pier this 1,5 hours boat ride is full of astonishing views, a beautiful sunrise in the mornings, and biodiversity. You will be taken directly to the Sirena Biological Station. This option is ideal for families, short-time visits, and non-experienced hikers.
