In this hands-on demonstration, we'll teach you the basics of making your own biltong sticks – how to select your meat, cut, marinade, season, cure, and store it. We offer vegans a surprisingly good alternative and bet you'll become addicted, too! Find out how an English 'Soutie' like me married an Afrikaans 'Boeremeisie' and how we combine our distinct and different cultures. Learn about the origin of the Afrikaans language (the only European language born in Africa!) We'll teach you a few expressions over a strong 'moerkoffie' served in a tin mug along with a piece of Soutie's homemade Karringmelkbeskuit. We create a fun, relaxed atmosphere with Boeremusiek (folk music) and some catchy Afrikaans songs to showcase our rainbow nation's authentic, warmhearted hospitality. Be prepared for tall tales, snippets of history, and a few classic Afrikaans sayings to spice up your conversations during this unique cultural experience.

The Addo Elephant National Park is the 3rd largest national park in South Africa and is home to over 600 elephants, lion, buffalo, rhino, antelope, zebra and much much more. Our experienced and enthusiastic Guide will do his best to locate as much of the game available in the area during your drive. As the game drive covers all time periods of the day you should have the opportunity to see most game species. The first few hours we usually have good sightings of antelope, zebra and lion. We will stop for a Tea/Coffee break at around 10h30. Elephants and buffalo are usually spotted a little later around the waterholes. At lunch time when we serve a delicious South African “braai” with beer, white wine, juice and mineral water. (Delicious vegetarian option available) After lunch we continue with the safari. We will leave the park at 17h00 and return to your place of accommodation. Refreshments will be served throughout the drive.

Join Richard and Gillian, chefs who run their own restaurant, for a private 3-hour cooking demonstration and a meal with wine in their lovely home. Food is at the center of this family and home, with large indoor and outdoor dining tables, a kitchen, and braai. Like most South Africans, cooking on the braai is the couple's favorite meal and social activity. Braai is cooking on a fire/barbequing which is very popular and a significant part of the culture in South Africa. Gillian and Richard have a fantastic outdoor braai where they often host. Richard and Gillian have a pet dog.

On this tour you will discover the unique region around the Bay of All Saints, the Recôncavo. This is the most African region of Brazil that received the first sugar cane plantations and the first slaves, imported from black Africa. This is a "back to the roots" tour that will give you an unforgettable experience of expatriation. Leaving Salvador, we pass the poor suburbs of Salvador and, later, a succession of fields for agriculture and grasslands. Her home is located in the multicultural neighborhood of Kensington, 10km from the city center. Annika, a culinary school graduate, grew up in Cape Town, in a multicultural home – she has South African and Danish roots. She has been fond of cooking since she was a child and learned to cook authentic South African dishes from her mother and grandmother. In her home, you can expect to try Cape Malay and African Township delicacies, and gain insight into South African culinary traditions.
