There are 2 activities about coffee that I will share with you: #1 • “Coffee cupping section”: You will experience how to taste coffee like a professional by joining a coffee cupping section of 5 different types of coffee beans and I will explain more about each coffee bean’s quality. I will also show you some basic coffee information just like wine (such as origin of coffee bean, varieties of coffee, processing method, roasting level, …) After that, you will understand more about coffee and Vietnamese coffee bean. #2 • “Make cà phê sữa đá by yourself!” I will tell you about history of coffee in Vietnam, how coffee came to us, how it affects our daily life and how Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk became our iconic drink. Then, you will follow my instruction to make Vietnamese traditional coffee – “Cà phê sữa đá”.

The trip begins with driving you along the beautiful beach side shaped crescent called Red Beach. Then driving along Hai Van pass shaped dragon with length of 20kms to stop at Hai Van Tower above 500m sea level to learn about history of French & Spanish war. Stop at the lagoon to get on old boat made from airplane in the 1990s to learn how to catch live fish by rolling net by feet when the net up and down on the water. Riding boat the oyster farm, the loca fishermen show us how oyster live, rise up and harvest… you can pick up for your taste right after. Stop our boat to the dock where the wife prepared different kinds of oyster from fresh, steamed to grilled ones for your taste as your delicous lunch with memorial breeze and impressive mountain view around you. Each oysters with different flavors very yummy to your mouth from beginning by sipping with rice wine. After full meal, ride back to main land and drive you back Da Nang via Hai Van Tunnel, longest tunnel in South east Asia.

During the activities, you'll try 6 different coffee drinks (from pure black coffee to the most iconic ones with ingredients) and the stories / origins behind them. There're always reasons, background situations connected to each of the drink. You will understand more about Vietnam history through the coffee tasting, as well as the people characteristics from different parts of the country reflexes on the drinks. Coffee is not just a drink, but how it's much more important to us. Hands-on brewing the coffee yourself. You'll get to know How to use "Phin" (traditional Vietnamese coffee dripper), together with the methods to make the iconic coffee drinks of Southern & Northern Vietnam (the "Ca phe sua" – condensed milk coffee & "Ca phe trung" – egg coffee). You'll be ready to make them at home easily with my tasty recipes/tips, an experienced QC / barista coach. All in all, a complete picture of everything you need to know about Vietnamese coffee.

Arrival & Welcome (5 minutes) – Guests are greeted by Ryan, our Vietnamese-Australian Coffee Guide (top 3 in 'Latte Art' at Brisbane's Barista Competition), who gives a brief intro to the Egg Coffee experience. Vietnamese Coffee Culture & Egg Coffee (5 minutes) – Learn about Egg Coffee, Vietnamese coffee culture, and fun Robusta facts Hands-On Egg Coffee Making (30 minutes) – Learn to brew black coffee with a Phin. – Whip egg yolks, sugar, and condensed milk into frothy cream. – Assemble with condensed milk, coffee, and cocoa garnish. Tasting & Wrap-Up (5 minutes) – Enjoy your creation with customization tips, followed by a Q&A, certificates, and a group photo!
