From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower.

Climbing through different climate zones it starts on heaths and winds further across alpine meadows to ascend to the arctic zone near Uhuru Peak. The descent, in turn, passes through rainforest. All this makes this route the most scenic on Kilimanjaro. The total distance covered on Lemosho Route is 46 kilometers (28.5 miles). THE SHORT MACHAME ROUTE VARIATION Below is the day by day itinerary for the 6 day Machame climb on Mount Kilimanjaro. For those who only have six days to climb Kilimanjaro, the Machame route is the best choice because of its acclimatization profile. Compared to other six day routes, the Machame route exposes the climber to higher elevations quicker (day three) which kickstarts the body’s adaptation to altitude. However, this route requires that a person be in good shape to be able to tackle the challenging elevation gains and losses. The six day Machame variation is a difficult route. In particular, day four combined with day five makes for a very hard schedule. Day four is a full day of hiking from Barranco to Barafu. Then after dinner and a partial night’s sleep, the very long and strenuous summit day begins around midnight. The 6 day Machame route requires 19-24 hours of demanding walking, at extremely high elevation, with only 4-6 hours of sleep.

6 DAYS KILIMANJARO CLIMBING VIA MACHAME TOURE “ THE WHISKY ROUTE” Machame is the climbing route which is more difficult route than the Marangu route. The route is known to be the most scenic route of the Kilimanjaro Mountain as it gives the climber an experience of the scenic view. The route is well known due to the success rate of summit for the climbers at it gives a great time for acclimatization on the ascending to the Lover tower and descending to Baranco before heading up to Karanga and the Barafu to the Summit. With this route on second day you will join other climbers from Lemosho and Shira routes before heading to the lover tower up to the summit and descending through the Mweka gate as it is different from the Marangu route, the ascending route for Machame route is not the same as the descending route, as you will be ascending via the Machame route and descending via the Mweka route to Mweka gate. Kilimanjaro trekking Marangu route 5 days itinerary is fairly easy despite of its difficult at the final part to the summit. Termed easier route, the route has encounter a highest failure rate due to bad preparation and untimely attempt. The above situations have moved KINAPA officials to put more emphasis and serious measures for those who climbing Mt Kilimanjaro on Marangu route. All camps along this route have a good radio communication to the park head office. Goods like mineral water, soft drinks, beer, chocolates are available almost in all camps.
