Morgan Lewis Windmill, St. Andrew, Barbados is the last sugar windmill to operate in Barbados. The mill stopped operating in 1947. In 1962 the mill was given to the Barbados National Trust by its owner Egbert L. Bannister for preservation as a museum.

Stop At: Shark hole, Shark Hole Barbados

It’s well worth a visit as it is an exceptional geological feature unlike any other beach on the island. It looks like the ocean carved out this spoon type funnel in the coral and deposited a good pile of sand in it.

The beach head is a spoon-shaped sand pit with the ocean coming in through a narrow funnel. It is protected from the full force of the ocean crashing onto the shore by a ridge of coral rock outside of the funnel. At its widest it is just 40ft or so across.

Tucked away in the southern countryside of Barbados, on 8 acres of a former sugar plantation, is the magnificent Foursquare Rum Distillery and Heritage Park. This working rum factory is well known for its collection of rums, producing a wide range including the highly favoured Doorly’s, Old Brigand and E.S.A.Field. Foursquare Rum Distillery is the proud winner of the Rum Distillery of the Year in November 2016 at the IWSC in London, UK.

Stop At: George Washington House, Bush Hill, Garrison Barbados

George Washington House in Barbados is a historic house where the future first U.S. President George Washington is alleged to have stayed in 1751. He was 19 years old at the time and traveling with his half-brother, Lawrence Washington, who was suffering from tuberculosis.

Barbados was the only country he ever visited outside colonial America.

This fact alone should make a tour of George Washington House, the place where he stayed while in Barbados, a must-do activity for all visitors from the USA.

Stop At: Kensington Oval, Bridgetown BB120004 Barbados

Kensington Oval recently underwent massive expansion and renovations for the World Cup. The venue was officially reopened on February 17th 2007.

It was very fitting that the ground was chosen for the World Cup final since Kensington Oval has hosted many historic matches over the years including being the first West Indian ground to host an English touring team (in 1895).

Other historic firsts include being the venue of the first match between a WI combined team and a MCC side in the Caribbean (in 1911), and the scene of the first Test century by a West Indian (Clifford Roach in 1930).

Kensington Oval was also the venue for the World Twenty20 finals in 2010.

Stop At: Barbados Supreme Court Complex, Whitepark Rd, Bridgetown, Barbados

The Supreme Court of Judicature of Barbados is the highest judicial body in the country of Barbados. It is made up of the High Court and the Court of Appeals. Appeals from the Supreme Court can be further referred to the jurisdiction of the Caribbean Court of Justice.

Stop At: Cherry Tree Hill, Barbados

Approximately 850 feet above sea-level, this spot offers an excellent view of the “Scotland District” which covers the parish of St.Andrew and is named after the Patron Saint of Scotland.

It is believed that the name “Cherry Tree Hill” originated from the large number of cherry trees which once existed at this location.

Today the road is lined with mahogany trees, which were introduced into Barbados after the Treaty of Paris in 1763. As you descend the hill the mahogany trees give way to swaying sugar cane.
