Stop At: St. Nicholas Abbey, Cherry Tree Hill, BB26007 Barbados

Admission includes entrance to St. Nicholas Abbey, with an hourly tour of to the great house, syrup factory and bottling plant. Guests are also encouraged to explore the plantation’s beautiful formal gardens, gullies and nearby Cherry Tree Hill, a majestic avenue of Mahogany Trees offering a breathtaking view of the island’s rugged east coast.

During your visit, you can enjoy a charming home movie c.1935, the plantation’s museum and a complimentary rum or fruit punch on our terrace overlooking the gully. Visitors over the age of 18 may also enjoy complimentary rum tasting during their tour.

Guided tours are scheduled on the hour from 10.00 a.m. – 3.30 p.m.; or you are welcome to join a tour already in progress. Visitors are however, given a detailed tour brochure if they prefer to explore on their own. (one per couple or single visitor).

Stop At: Cherry Tree Hill, Barbados

Approximately 850 feet above sea-level, this spot offers an excellent view of the “Scotland District” which covers the parish of St.Andrew and is named after the Patron Saint of Scotland.

It is believed that the name “Cherry Tree Hill” originated from the large number of cherry trees which once existed at this location.

Today the road is lined with mahogany trees, which were introduced into Barbados after the Treaty of Paris in 1763. As you descend the hill the mahogany trees give way to swaying sugar cane.

The waters here are very calm, making it a fantastic spot for swimming and seabathing. Rent a beach lounger and umbrella for a relaxing beach day. Watch the catamarans sailing languidly up the coast, taking guests to snorkel and swim with sea turtles.

Pass By: Parks Road/Saddle Back, Mellowes, Barbados

Parks Road, which is on Chalky Mount is a rugged picturesque range of hills in Saint Andrew, Barbados, forming a jagged profile against the horizon when viewed from the east coast – commonly called Napoleon’s Head.

Chalky Mount has considerable clay deposits and is the home of the potteries, one of Barbados’ most important cottage industries, established in the nineteenth century.
