Rafting on the Martha Brae, the island’s #1 rafting attraction is located approximately 10 minutes from the town of Falmouth. Your experience begins at “Rafter’s Village”, which sits on a natural horseshoe island featuring a fully appointed recreational facility with a bar and souvenir shops. Established in 1970, Rafting on the Martha Brae boasts a complement of eighty five licensed and experienced raft captains. Guests board 30-foot bamboo rafts under the supervision of a licensed dispatcher. The raft ride lasting approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes is operated over a three-mile stretch of the beautiful Martha Brae River. As you glide down the river, learn about “The Legend of the Martha Brae” and even try your hand at poling the raft.
The attraction has over the years played host to a number of celebrities including HRH Queen Elizabeth II, Richard Branson, heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, Chuck Norris, Dionne Warwick, Spike Lee, Kenny Rodgers, R&B star Jason Derulo, former NBA star Patrick Ewing, Jane Seymour of “Doctor Quinn – Medicine Woman” fame, late Johnny Cash and Olympic Champion Usain Bolt
