Pass By: Fig Tree Drive, Central Antigua Antigua
Antigua’s most pristine drive meanders from a low central plain of the island up into the ancient, volcanic hills of the Saint Mary parish in the island’s southwest area. The road passes through an area of bountiful vegetation and rainforest and rises to the steep farmlands around Fig Tree Hill (the fig is what Antiguans would consider bananas) before descending to the coastline village of Old Road again. Along the way are mango, banana, and coconut groves, as well as a number of old sugar mills and village churches.
Stop At: Devil’s Bridge, Willikies Antigua
A naturally created limestone bridge hanging off the furthest easterly coast of Antigua. With a grim past attached, it is still a spectacular place for sightseeing, picture taking and a cool picnic. You choose.
