Day 1: SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA (20 MINUTES APPROX.) 16.9 KMS

Welcome to San José, Costa Rica.

Reception at Juan Santamaría airport and transfer to hotel in San José.

The capital of San José is located in the middle of the Central Valley and in the center of the country, considered one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Latin America. The city is located in a strategic point near the main tourist attractions such as: historical buildings, museums, theaters, craft markets, beautiful parks, shopping centers and offers a varied gastronomic offer.

Day 2: SAN JOSÉ – ARENAL VOLCANO (3 HOURS APPROX.) 135 KMS

Stop At: Arenal Volcano National Park, Arenal Volcano National Park, Province of Alajuela
In the morning transfer or delivery of a 4×4 rental car at the hotel, towards the North Plains. There, the impressive Arenal Volcano awaits you, one of the natural wonders of the country for its majesty. Today there are no lava eruptions, but you can see the smoke or ash that is thrown off the top of the volcano and you can enjoy the hot springs in the area. Along the way and until you reach La Fortuna town, you will be able to appreciate agricultural plantations, ornamental plants and cattle farms.

Day 3: ARENAL VOLCANO

Stop At: Arenal Volcano National Park, Arenal Volcano National Park, Province of Alajuela
Depart in the morning for the walk inside the Arenal Volcano National Park, where it will take you through vegetation and changing terrain of the ancient lava rivers called las coladas.
Later, hike to Río Fortuna Waterfall, located in a biological reserve of pre-montane transitional humid tropical forest that is part of the Arenal Volcano National Park. The path has 530 steps, with comfortable rest areas. Finally you can take a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of the Fortuna River followed by lunch.

Day 4: VOLCANO ARENAL – MONTEVERDE (3.5 HOURS APPROX.) 120KMS

Transfer to Monteverde, with an extension of rainy and cloud forests and a spectacular biodiversity. Monteverde is home to one of the rarest and most unique habitats on the planet and an astonishing variety of flora and fauna. With its unique position on the continental divide between the Caribbean and the Pacific coasts, cloud forests offer a very particular microclimate for the many species that inhabit this area. During the journey, you will observe really beautiful landscapes and will cross some typical localities of the country.

Day 5: GREEN MOUNT

Depart in the morning to explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest as you traverse various trails and a series of suspension bridges at different levels of a wonderfully diverse ecosystem, with full views of the forest canopy.

Complement your day with a visit to the Monteverde Butterfly Garden and also learn about the insects and arachnids of Costa Rica that will make you change the way you think about these little and misunderstood creatures. This morning you will begin your journey descending from the mountains towards the warm coast of the Central Pacific.

If your choice is Manuel Antonio, this park is the smallest of the national parks in Costa Rica but also one of the most visited for its beautiful beaches between mountains, forests and the wildlife in its natural habitat that it offers.

If Punta Leona is your choice, this is a fascinating place for nature and bird watching lovers who are exposed to Costa Rica’s rich biological diversity.

It is the smallest of the national parks in Costa Rica but also one of the most visited for its beautiful beaches. It has several trails for walking, viewpoints and the probability of crossing with animals in their natural habitat. At various points in the park, the trails branch off and lead to four separate beaches: Espadilla Sur, Manuel Antonio, Escondida, and Playita.
