Pass By: Rincones de Mi Pais – Villa Mella, Carretera Higuero Amor de Dios, Dominican Republic
Our local guide will assign you a bike for the tour. First we ride to visit to a small organic cocoa producer family, to learn about cacao trees and to get to know the family backyard where you will taste some seasonal fruits and local ice cream. Learn about typical chocolate at a local family, see how they make it in the countryside and have the opportunity to taste a fresh Dominican-style hot chocolate drink. We will ride to another community to meet a family that produces organic coffee. Learn about the coffee plantation and the process to harvest, dry, roast and grind coffee as the locals do in the countryside.
Enjoy the countryside by bicycle and visit the Higuero River, take many photos to remember this beautiful day. If available, drink coconut water from the local coconut vendor, as well as to get to know some of the local street foods cooked by local women. Finally we will refresh ourselves with an ice cold beer in the village grocery store, just like the locals do.

In the first part we visit a family of organic cocoa producers, where you will learn about cocoa and get to know the “conuco” or family sowing patio, there you will taste some seasonal fruits and local ice cream. You will learn about the process of making typical artisan chocolate at the home of a local family and taste a tasty Dominican-style hot chocolate.

We will travel to another community where you will visit a family that produces organic coffee. Learn about the coffee plantation and the process to harvest, dry, roast and grind coffee as they do in the field.

Enjoy the countryside by bike and visit the Higuero River, where you will take many photos to remember this day. If it is available you will refresh yourself with a coconut of water with a local coconut vendor, and you will be able to know some typical foods made by local women.
