During the British rule in the 1800’s after a fire destroyed the city of Basseterre and it was rebuilt, this clock was built in the honour of Lord Thomas Berkleley, a former president of the General Legislative Council in the 1880’s. This historic monument has four clocks facing the four streets, four water stands and seating area around the clock. Hence, the name (The Circus). This depicts the Piccadilly Square in London which host the famous clock, “Big Ben”. In St. Kitts since we were under British rule ours became, “Little Ben”.

Bloody Point gets it name from the massacre of the Kalinago Indians that took place in the village of Challengers in the 1600s. The British had settled quite close to the Indians and told them they did this to secure the chickens within the area. The chief, Tegreman became suspicious when Sir Thomas Warner (the first governor of St Kitts) returned from England with African slaves and more settlers. The Indian chief decided to ask the neighboring island for help as he planned his attack. He was betrayed by a woman.
