In the late 19th century the lower western corner of Church and Central Street was dominated by an impressive building known as the Newstead Hotel.

Captain Sir Thomas Warner's Tomb, Middle Island, St. Kitts, West Indies. Thomas Warner died on March 10, 1649, in St. Kitts. His tomb and that of Samuel Jefferson (great-great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States) were originally situated inside the original St. Thomas' Anglican Church.
